The book has four main sections: Nature & Animals; Spirituality; Tangibles; Sacred Sites. The poems are created in free verse but include a Haiku version of the first five subjects: Water, Earth, Forest, Fire, Ether.
One of the project's reasons is Murgan's curiosity to assess the refinement of such a feat of software engineering, its capacity to absorb vocabulary, grammatical structure, meaning, and the level of learning from running multiple queries from the same individual.
There is definitely a deeper understanding of the various meanings of these words. Repetition is scarce, if not completely absent. The free verse option creates a certain cadence to the lyrics, but each verse makes perfect sense.
And this is where the difference between a poet and the AI is evident, at least, at this point in the evolution of such technology. The metaphor translated in verses by a human experience cannot be matched.
In the years to come, Chat GPT will definitely evolve into a much more sophisticated AI. Will it be able to absorb what we consider unique traits of organic nature? Time will tell.
Until then, embrace this experiment by reading what the two of us put together. No matter the direction humanity is going towards, I expect that we’ll still have the free choice of using Chat GPT, or its more refined versions, for benevolent activities that won’t try to contain the human spirit in a small, ugly, doctrinal jacket.
